Yes, you can get pregnant if you miss a Cerazette pill, especially if the delay is more than 12 hours, because Cerazette’s effectiveness relies heavily on timing and consistency. Cerazette is a progestin-only contraceptive pill (also known as the mini pill), and unlike combined oral contraceptives, it has a shorter window of effectiveness.

It must be taken at the same time every day, and if a pill is taken more than 12 hours late, its ability to prevent ovulation may be reduced. Cerazette works primarily by thickening the cervical mucus, making it harder for sperm to reach the egg, and in many women, it also suppresses ovulation. However, when a pill is missed or taken late, this hormone level can drop, potentially allowing ovulation to occur.

If you forget to take your Cerazette pill and less than 12 hours have passed, take it as soon as you remember, and you will still be protected. But if more than 12 hours have passed, take the missed pill as soon as possible, continue taking the rest as scheduled, and use additional contraception (such as condoms) for the next 48 hours.

If you have unprotected sex during this time, there is a risk of pregnancy. Missing multiple pills, or experiencing vomiting or diarrhea within 2 hours of taking Cerazette, can also lower its effectiveness. If you miss a pill and have had unprotected sex, emergency contraception may be necessary depending on your situation.

It’s important to always read the patient information leaflet included with your medication, and consult your doctor or pharmacist if you're unsure what to do after missing a dose. While Cerazette is highly effective when used correctly—with over 99% effectiveness during perfect use—its reliability significantly drops with inconsistent use.

Therefore, taking your pill at the same time every day is crucial for maintaining protection against pregnancy.
